A Bit About Joshua Walker

Joshua Walker first discovered his musical talents when he began Piano Lessons with his Father as his teacher at aged nine. After the first term of lessons, he quickly discovered that he enjoyed them so much, that he asked for lessons to be daily. Since taking daily practical and theory lessons for the Piano, Joshua quickly gained the ability to sight read music straight from the score. He attempted to play the most very difficult of pieces that were supposed to be played on a Pipe Organ, but had no pedal board for his feet. He soon discovered that he loved playing majestic ceremonial pieces and music composed by Bach and Widor specifically for Pipe Organ. The only thing was that he did not have a Pipe Organ to try them out on. His Father decided to build a Hauptwerk Organ that interpreted the exact sounds that a. person would hear at Salisbury Cathedral in the UK. Joshua soon discovered how much he enjoyed making the organ sound with all the stops pulled out! it was time to progress to a real Pipe Organ and Joshua started lessons with his Father at Ararat Catholic Church on their Pipe Organ to which his Father maintained and tuned. This eventually enabled him to play the most larger pieces complete with pedals and full organ in a church setting, to which he so much enjoyed doing. Later on his Father built a Tubular Pneumatic Pipe Organ for Joshua, which is located in their current residence. He also has a collection of different reed harmoniums to play, as well as other electronic organs and pianos.

Joshua has completed several certificate grades with AMEB and is a high achiever and now composes and writes his own music as well as gives concert recitals for Piano and Pipe Organ. He is also currently the official Pipe Organist at his local Church. The Australian College of Pipe Organ, Piano & Voice is a school for learning to play the Piano and Pipe Organ, as well as Piano Tuning, Pipe organ building and repairs, to which Joshuas Father set up recently.
